Volunteering Opportunities – Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank

The IOP Manchester Branch is seeking volunteers to help share the wonders of physics with the public at the Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank on Friday 7th to Sunday 9th July 2017 (www.discoverthebluedot.com). You will have free access to the festival on the day(s) you volunteer. Parking and camping are also available but spaces are limited. If you are interested in taking part then please e-mail Jonathan Hinks (j.a.hinks@hud.ac.uk) to register your interest as soon as possible

The team will be performing physics tricks – hand-held demos using things you can find at home. Some of the tricks are messy, some are noisy, but all of them are guaranteed crowd pleasers that help to illustrate different areas of physics.

All activities and equipment will be provided, along with plenty of guidance on how to engage with the audience.

The stand needs to be staffed for the following times (TBC) although we will need volunteers to be there before their shift starts:
Friday 7th July 13:00 – 19:00
Saturday 8th July 10:00 – 20:00
Sunday 9th July 10:00 – 20:00
