The University of Dar es Salaam and the Institute of Physics, and co-sponsored by the Optical Society, are jointly organising a four-day workshop for students and their science teachers from five schools in Dar es Salaam. The workshop is specifically designed for form 6 students (aged 17-18) who have an interest in science and would like to learn more about what can be achieved with a science background. We will also work with several science teachers from the schools on how they can run practical sessions to inspire students to continue using their interest in science beyond school. A focus will be placed on entrepreneurship, vocational skills and the alternative careers paths that a background in science can lead to.
