On Saturday (July 8), Ellis' manager, Emily Gerson Saines, told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor had died "after complications with heart failure." There are many conditions that can lead to heart failure. On Monday (July 10) the news site TMZ reported that Ellis' heart failure was triggered by alcohol withdrawal complications when the actor attempted to quit drinking.
