On February 20, 2019 a meeting of the Ukrainian National Nomination Committee for the Nobel Sustainability Trust Award was held under the chairmanship of Academician B. E. Paton.
The Committee reviewed the results of the examination of works submitted by organizations and scientists of Ukraine to participate in the national phase of the first 2018-2019 competition for the Nobel Sustainability Trust Award, in particular from the Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, from the Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics, etc.
After reviewing and discussing the results of the examination, the Committee decided to nominate from Ukraine for participation in the next stage the contest the World Data Center project: "Development of the Online Platform for Systems Analysis and Scenario Planning of Sustainable Development of Countries and Regions of the World in the Context of Quality and Security of Human Life."
The purpose of the project is to support the strategic decisions-making aimed at the support of the securing sustainable development of countries and regions of the world under the conditions of considerable indeterminacy of data and adverse impact of the set of threats and risks of economic, environmental, and social nature. The scientific importance of the work encompasses the creation of new models and methods for describing large social and economic systems, algorithms, and procedures for processing and systemic coordination of Big Data of various nature with the purpose of calculating the multiple key indices and indicators of sustainable development of those systems, scenario planning methods to anticipate the behavior thereof at different time horizons, systems analysis of impact of the set of key threats that affect the said systems.
