President of Ukraine, Cabinet of Ministers and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made the decision on ChNPP deducing from the structure of National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom" and creation on its basis State Specialized Enterprise for a complex of tasks solution:

Institute of Geography of NAS of Ukraine was established by the founding in 1964 the Sector of Geography under the Institute of Geology Sciences of Academy of Sciences of Ukrainian SSR.
In 1991 establishment gained the status of Institute.

The Main Astronomical Observatory (MAO) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was founded on July 17, 1944 on the initiative of the well-known astronomer and geophysicist O.Ya. Orlov (1880—1954), Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IGP) was organized on the 23rd of December 1960 in Kiev as a result of integration of Geophysical Laboratory and Magnetic Station of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Ukrainian SSR, geophysical departments

Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth (CASRE) was founded in 1992 by decision of the Presidium of National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine, as an independent juridical person at the Institute of Geological Sciences, NASU.
