On June 27, 2017, in ESC «World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development» release «Spatial Modeling and Applications for SDI» course of postgraduate students from state authorities was issued, which was delivered within the framework of the Canadian-Ukrainian educational project "Laying the Foundation for a Spatial Data Infrastructure: Building Capacity within the Ukrainian Government to Support Sustainable Economic Growth", which is being implemented in Ukraine with the support of Vancouver Island University and its Ukrainian partners.

Tonight, at 23.30 on May 26, a team from Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute established connection and began setting up individual subsystems NANOSATELLITE PolyITAN-2. He came to his own orbit of the International Space Station (ISS), where he was sent from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, delivered missile ATLAS-5.

In April, 18 at 11.11 local time carrier rocket of American consortium United Launch Alliance «Atlas V» was launched from cosmodrome on Cape Canaveral (USA) with transport ship "Cygnus". It's mission is to deliver 7600 pounds of live load to International space station.

Series of modern textbooks for Geoinformatics in Igor Sikorsky KPI

The development of modern information technology requires constant updating courses and programs. In particular, the direction of spatial data infrastructure and geographic information technologies in Ukraine are not enough equipped with modern Ukrainian-speaking educational literature. Therefore, prepared of two textbooks in the field of geographic information technologies in ESC "World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development" is an important event not only for Igor Sikorsky KPI, but all Ukrainian scientific and educational community in this area. Preparations of textbooks was carried out jointly by Canadian and Ukrainian experts as part of project of the technical support "Laying the foundations spatial data infrastructure: ensuring the base in the Ukrainian government to support sustainable economic growth". Both textbooks have received Methodological Council recommendation and Academic Council neck of Igor Sikorsky KPI.

Memorandum of Cooperation with the Institute for Global Transformations

On February 13, 2017 at Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute Memorandum of cooperation between the Institute for Global Transformations, Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute and the World Data Center "Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development" was signed. The groups agreed to join efforts to implement joint projects in the modernization of the national economy, efficiency and quality of research results and implementation of the state policy of Ukraine. The first step will be cooperation in research activities with a view to finalizing the Economic Doctrine "Ukraine 2030", initiated by the Institute for Global Transformation.

The current development of the country requires the use of new technologies and space monitoring of the Earth and geospatial data collection in order to meet social needs, national security and defense, as noted in the draft of Strategy space activities of Ukraine till 2022. In particular, works are realized to create the Ukrainian segment of the international aerospace systems using data monitoring, which in the future should be part of the common European Research Area in the field of remote sensing.
